Education

The Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake's Education Department offers Youth and Adult Educational services:

  • Pre-School Tutoring Hour 1:30p.m.-2:30p.m., Mon.-Fri.
  • After-School Tutoring 3p.m.-5p.m., Mon.-Fri.
  • Additional Tutoring (By Appointment)
  • Homework Clubs
  • Computer Access
  • Internet Access
  • Educational & Professional Software
  • Grade Level Reading Books
  • Math Readers
  • Audio Read-A-Long Facility
  • Typing Tutors
  • Resources for Financial Aid, Scholarships and Employment
    Financial Assistance for adults looking to continue their education (GED, ABE and/or accredited school or program that enable adults to become more employable, productive and/or responsible tribal member)

EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT ITEMS (by Scholarship Application):

Approved Educational Support Items, which are required for students to participate in school, may be supplied by the Education Center. These items include, but are not limited to:

  • School Supplies (tablets, paper, pencils, markers, etc.)
  • Shop Supplies (wood, tools)
  • Instrument Rental (band or music)
  • Lab Fees (science, math, home economics)
  • P.E. Clothing (gym uniforms)
  • Test Fees (ACT, SAT, etc.)
  • Graduation Gowns
  • Cultural Supplies/Materials (arts/crafts)
  • Extra-curricular Activities and Supplies (gym shoes, uniforms, sports fees, drama, speech, and/or clubs)
  • Summer School Academic Fees (school supplies)
  • Science/Environmental Projects (materials)
  • Other Courses (voc-tech fees, community college fees, etc.)

YOUTH INCENTIVE AWARDS PROGRAM (by Scholarship Application):

For those students who have excelled based on:

  • Citizenship
  • Perfect/Good Attendance
  • Academic Achievement (grades)
  • Leadership
  • Fine Arts
  • Sports
  • Behavior/Attitude (school related)

Awards may include, but are not limited to T-shirts, plaques, trophies, sport bags/back packs, jackets (sport or club achievement), gift certificates, banquets, books, etc.
